Tried three cocktails, the Bandana, Murder Mule and a specialty crafted cocktail by the amazing Marla. All three were delicious. The flavors are very present, so if you don't like ginger, beets or rosemary don't order the murder mule, etc.

My friend had the massaman curry and said it was possibly the best he's had and better than the Thai restaurants he usually goes to. My husband had the yellow curry with shrimp and chicken wings. Said the wings were the best he's had in years, crispy and well seasoned on the outside and juicy on the inside.

I had the green vegetable curry. It was flavorful, but a little heavier than I expected. Maybe they use cream in it - lll ask for the dish cooked without next time.

We sat outside with our 4 month old puppy. We spoke with 4-5 staff members because they all contribute to tables and everyone was very friendly. A little slow at times but once you ask for something they're very quick to bring it out. Craft cocktails take longer than a beer or glass of wine anyways, and I'm happy to wait a couple minutes longer for something good.

One HUGE recommendation/request of the bar: outdoor fans. Even after sunset it was uncomfortably hot. Warm plates or anything with spice doesn't help the situation.

I love this place!  I come fairly often for the cocktails, but the food is a must!  The whole concept for those unfamiliar is a rotating chef residency with Monica Pope and Adam Brackman behind the concept.  At this time that rotating chef is none other than Evelyn Garcia, which anyone who appreciates food should a be familiar with and her menu does not disappoint.

    Setting
This is in the old original Beavers location, but has been updated.  There are small high tops for cocktails, booths for dining, and an outdoor patio area.  This place is never super packed when I visit which is a plus as it makes for a great place to have good conversation with your company.

    Food / Drinks
They feature a reverse happy hour from 10 pm to close Tuesday through Saturday.  All of their cocktails have been great.  I personally love the Red Silk Smoking Jacket and the Thai Islay tea as they both feature Monkey Shoulder Scotch as a base liquor.  The presentation of the Red Silk Smoking Jacket is cool as the ice within the glass allows the smoke to sit.  It's a very fall / winter drink with the allspice, cinnamon, etc.

As for food, their Thai style burger and curries are definitely worth a visit.  If you're stuck in choosing, I would recommend going for the curry.  The sour yellow particularly.

    Service
This is where it has fallen slightly short on the occasions we've been and the only reason for knocking a star.  The service is definitely not the quickest.  From being welcomed all the way through your check it's just not the quickest.  It's not terrible, but as an example we've been one of two tables in the entire joint and it still took a bit.  Just be prepared to wait some, but you will not be disappointed.

    Pricing
Always subjective, but I find the prices just a tad pricey ($1-$2) for the portion size.  That said, it's a small premium for the freshness, quality, and taste.  The cocktails are in range to what one would expect at around $10-$12.

    Overall
I love this place for a low key dinner with friends and a great place to grab a drink too.  In the sea of places Houston has to offer their first chef resident is impressive!

I did not go in with any expectations but decided to give them a try with a friend for HRW 2019. I had a few disappointments! First thing is the restaurant was not that busy which is why i will not give them a pass for the slightly below average service. One of us ordered from HRW menu and I didnt. My appetizer and food were brought together but not my friends because they had to wait for her to be done with 1st course. I thought it would have been common sense to bring 2 peoples food around the same time but i guess not so as it waited for 30 min and got cold, i had to ask them to warm it up which i got an uncomfortable yes for it. The food itself was ok. Nothing exceptional. Probably a place you try once and you're good. Cant speak for the drinks because did not try any. Our server was very nice but the constant wanting to pack us up and out when the place is clearly half empty was not very pleasant either.

Decided to try something new and different as part of Houston Restaurant Weeks. Arrived at around 6:45pm on 8/14/18. The place was about half to 3/4 full from what I could see (it's not a large space).

Without giving a play by play of the entire evening, I can say we were there for 2.5 hours because everything took ages and the service was quite poor. I can appreciate the up and coming chefs and maybe the kitchen taking longer, but then the service should be top notch and make an effort to acknowledge the guests and give updates. We had to flag down the waitress for almost everything, I actually can only recall one instance where she checked in with us and that was it we wanted more drinks, but we declined because of how long it took. One person in our party waited at least 30 minutes for her first drink order and then it took forever to get each course. Then we waited even longer to get the check and then run the cards.

Now, onto the food/drinks. Everyone enjoyed their beverage of choice, minus the wait on one drink. The food, however, wasn't terrible but wasn't amazing. Half of us ordered the ceviche appetizer, the other half ordered the chicken wing. Both of us with ceviche looked like cartoon characters because the ceviche was SO sour (too much citrus) that you couldn't taste anything else. The chicken wing folks said they were good but didn't rave. We all ordered the pork chop for the entree, and I would say it was decent. I think everyone felt the same. The deserts were also just okay. I believe I had some sort of panna cotta, but the portion was quite small so it wasn't much of an experience.

I understand the concept of rotating/new chefs that are honing their skills and trying to make it big, and can generally look past food tastes as everyone has a different palate, but the service will keep me from coming back to try a different chef. The only thing we got at the end was a "thanks for your patience" when she dropped off the checks. No apology, sometimes a "food should be coming, I put the order in a while ago..." so it just felt like no one really cared that we were waiting. 2.5 hours is quite a long time for a light 3 course meal.

    Pros:
Drinks were good, live jazz music was nice

    Cons:
Slow and unapologetic service, food might not be for everyone (and the ceviche needs some help)

I went to this bar earlier in the day around 5PM, so it wasn't busy quite yet. On the outside it almost reminded me of a cafeteria but the inside was a totally different set up. We had a couple of drinks and an appetizer. The salmon was a bit too tart for my taste but my friend liked the flavor. The waitress was nice and attentive. I liked the look of the outside patio. I imagine it will be pretty busy out there once the weather cools off a bit. I will probably go back to try more food and check out the patio at night within the next few months, I think it will be a happening spot.
